Best pellet for rock badger

Greetings from Botswana
I am a missionary here in Botswana and have a Walther Talon Magnum .177 coming in the post soon. Rock badgers will be the main game I hunt with it(yes it is legal to hunt with air gun here in Botswana). My dilema is finding the correct pellet. I need a pellet that will take down the animal without it getting away. I know that any pellet will be able to kill the animal as it is about the size of a groundhog but the Rock badger is always about one jump away from refuge in a small rock hole or cave and i don't want to loose a dead animal. Would a lighter PBA with better penetration be better with head shot? Or a heavy pellet be better for more nock down power. I was thinking of combining a 16gr pellet with a 8.8gr lead ball glued on the back. Any thoughts???
