Gammo accuracy

Posted by - JaDub Jan/15/2010 at 10:15PM

JR , My Whisper will shoot a 3/8" group at 50 ft, many thru the same hole. I`ve probably put 500 shots thru it and have experimented with many different pellets. Like any rifle, you need to find the pellet your gun likes. I have noticed a big difference in accuracy and consistancy by simply noticing how loose or tight the pellet feels when it is inserted in the barrel. Loose or any form of it is not good. I`ve seen .002 to .005" differences in O.D. from tin to tin........ not a good thing. My gun seems to prefer heavier pellets rather than the light weight ones. I also like to have to `press them into` the breech a bit. Beeman has gone thru some problems with quality control lately. If you are a varmint hunter ( squirrels etc. ) I`d try the Gammo Master Point. They are cheap and readily available. You might also experiment with which setting your scope is set on. The original scope is very good however I notice my particular one seems most accurate at X8 . I`ve gone up and down on magnification and have settled on that one. Most inexpensive scopes seem to be most accurate at lower magnifications, mine just seems to like 8. Do not be afraid to experiment. The above results were acheived on a sled. Down load a few targets from this site and enjoy the process `dialing in`.

Good luck, JaDub

P.S. Run a cleaning patch thru the gun from time to time. It will make a difference.
