AG smithing school |
I just tried to post this so I hope it doesn't pop up twice
Where can I find such a thing? I have a big interest in learning the craft |

I’ve seen a few pop up from time to time |
but they seem to be mostly self-serving of profit and self gratitude.
Your best bet would be to hire on at a factory or become a service center.
I think Crosman has a program for there service centers.
Myself I started in a gun shop as an apprentice gunsmith 30 or so years ago that happen to work on airguns and after about 10 years I started on my own as a gunsmith with airgun repair in my background.
Firearms became so regulated it became a burden for anything that was not done with same day service on an in and out basis. I became a student tool and die maker and after school I found a company tool and die maker apprenticeship program then with another 10 years under my belt I move to mainly airguns, black powder and antique firearms as a hobby.
Now at over 50 it’s all a hobby

Thank |
Sounds like a life time journey, mine has been fly tying sence 6 years old taught by the best in the bossiness, now I want another odd ball type skill and AG's just keep calling. Can't really up and move my family for my desires. I'll just keep looking for one to pop up in Colorado
Thank for the response |

I've been doing a bit fly tying myself lately. |
Been watching Jack Dennis videos and reading his trout fly tying manual.
I use tying mostly for spinners but have been trying my hand at the flies.
I hope to head to Montana this summer and early fall to give them a try

Flies flies flies |
Sweet if ya want to come down to Co. Let me know, I've been was a guide her for 17 years. I'm economy retired Ha Ha, would post some pic but this iPad is difficult
Heck to any one here who can help me on my quest, of a worked over disco, or what not I'll take you out to
I do dries & streamer, boner fishing with a fly rod is not my way
I am also a pro-staff tier for the 720 vice, and was put in Rick Talkahashi new book "Modern Midges" just throing out some creed's so you don't think I'm a chump
Nice work at the vice, what part of Montana do you like to fish? I've only been there once, out side of Bozeman, thought about moving a thousand times, but still live here in the middle of all the ski resorts ( Summit County)
And Colorado is sweet for air gun hunting
And on the trade of service you can decide how many days of fishing you want,as said retiredish and fishin' is what I do |

The only 2 I have fished are |
Blackfoot and Yellow Stone, yellow stone was the first, I still dream about going back every North Dakota Spring in MAY. That fly above took me about a week to tie.
It would be nice to have some on site help when learning fly tying. I have seen some nice flies that take a couple of minutes when a pro gets on the bench.
Can you imagine a week, for that little fly! |

I wrote a long and informative post , but it told me there was a word that was not allowed?

Till then |
I would say go to a local shop and see if they will spend a few minutes teaching you. Some shop will try to sell you a over priced lesson, a good shop dog will sit down and teach you with a smile and the good guy is the one to give your business to |
