Ruger Air Hawk 11/16/09

I recently purchased the air hawk & am new to air guns in general. I realize most guns don't shoot the way you like them to right out of the box. I have only put about 30 rounds through it in attempt to sight in the supplied scope as well as open sights at 20 yds. The groups are pretty bad. Every once in a while I'll get decent group of 3 at 1/2". I get feel of buzziness or vibration when I fire it most of the time. Is that normal? My question is, Is this as good as it gets? I read the review on the air hawk elite, same as mine with the thumb hole, and the issues in the middle review seem like like what I have but don't seem to be a problem with mine. Any help would be appreciated. John Reiland

Buzziness or vibration sounds like

it may be the mainspring, (no Biggie) most springers have that same buzz and is the largest complaint I hear about springers, It is most likely do to the fit between the mainspring and the mainspring guide, we fix this with a new tighter fitting spring guide or it can be dampened with grease or what ever else its being called to promote it.

Open sights groups at 20yds, springers are a bit of a creature to shoot and take practice & patients, I would say give it more time shooting, let the gun break in a bit and pay attention to how you’re holding the gun and squeezing the trigger when your shot hits the mark.

Accuracy is practice

vibration

Thanks for the advice. Just to clarify, the vibration, buziness it sounds like is normal & is not the reason I cannot get a tight group. I will just continue to shoot it through any break in period. I may just go strictly open sights because I've tried adjusting the scope and it just shoots continually low. The adjustments are each click is 1/4" at 100 yds and so far there is no difference after multiple adjustments. Faulty scope? Not sure. John
