A close friend pulled me aside and told me he got a 1377c. I figured I'd look around the net and see if I could learn a little about this Pistol. WOW this is perhaps the pistol with the most after market parts and upgrades going. I love that. I ran out and picked one up. After pumping it 10 time and shooting it once, I really do like it even though it's multi pump . It's light and despite it's long barrel and pump handle it has a nice balanced feel. It is also very easy to pump, much easier than I remember as a kid. This pistol has a wonderfully thin body when sighting down the barrel. The latest design cocking handle / bolt assembly is very attractive and functional. It comes with an "adjustable" rear sight which amounts to loosening a screw on the top of the barrel and manually pivoting the whole sight assembly left and right for windage. This seems to have a slight affect on the elevation "adjustment" which again you loosen a small screw on th rear of the sight assembly and slide the blade up and down. The rear blade can be flipped 180 degrees to use the other end as a peep sight. It has a nice manual safety that's easily disengaged. All in all a pleasant surprise with good power.
Now for the bad:
This thing has a horrid trigger but with a little work and a new #4 spring and nylon guide and a front spring to take out the slack. I slimmed the profile of the sear to reduce metal on metal contact and polished everything... it's now decent.
The rear sight assembly cheap and crude. It is a pain to sight this pistol in and I have managed to partially strip the blade screw hole an easy upgrade though.
The pump handle makes a annoying clap, clap, clap as you pump it. I remember that from when I was a kid and I hate it!
Bottom Line:
If you don't mind 10 pumps a shot, or perhaps 3 for indoor shooting, want an excellent price to power ratio, very good accuracy and available upgrades then this may be your pistol. All things considered, this makes for a winning combination as a beginners pistol or a starting platform for your own creation.
Fixes / Modifications:
* TRIGGER MOD 2: I found a picture on the web from an older Crosman pistol that had an adjustable trigger weight assembly. I pulled out my Hillbilly lathe (Drill in a vice)and drill press Dremel with a level strapped on it and was able to reproduce Using solid round aluminum stock, 4-40 threaded rod a knurled nut and a shorter spring and 3 set screws. Ask and I'll take some Pix and email to requesters
* REAR SIGHT MOD:
the wood screw finally stripped out the hole in the plastic block. Again I used tiny threaded rod permanently affixed through the stripped hole put the sight blade back on and used a tiny knurled nut to loosen an tighten. (Both found on a Ink tip for a Staedtler Compass)I also filled the hollow of the rear sight with flat aluminum stock then Tapped a 4-40 set screw to keep the windage true if bumped.
FRONT SIGHT POST MOD:
I had some fiber-optic sight stock so I filed the front sight post with a mini round file to create a groove to cradle a piece of fiber-optic stock. I filed the end (facing the rear site) to a small rectangle. now it's much easier to line up the sights.
PUMP CLAP, CLAP, CLAP MOD:
I reduced the annoying Clap, Clap, Clap of the pump handle by filling the handle with weather stripping and adding a thin rubber pad to the bottom of the chamber. Now extremely quiet.
I now shoot this pistol the most (I have 6 including a 10 meter competition) and really do enjoy it. |

Picked up my first Pump Gun a couple of weeks ago. The Crosman 1377C. Sucker was dead on out of the blister pack with Crosman Wadcutters. After reading some the comments about this gun, I decided to upgrade. Added 1399 Shoulder Stock, Crosman Steel Breach Kit & a BSA RGB sight. Total time spent on installation: 30 minutes. The scope was 2 clicks right & one click down, out of the box. Gun shoots 1" groups @ 30' on 3 pumps. Now I can practice in the back yard. Wife won't let me shoot indoors. |

If you like to tinker this is the best platform to start from to build your own custom pistol/carbine/rifle, depends on how far you want to go. Never has there been as much information available to the public. I am preparing to start my third this week. Do a little research decide for yourself..If you would rather let someone else do the work for you there are several great airgunsmiths out there, read the forums and pick one. |

Now, I'll admitt mine was already modded when I got it... Charles Mellon Flat top piston, Blue Fork Muzzle cap/sights, RB walnut grips, trigger job, Steel breech, etc..... But, it is an absolute TACK DRIVER, and a hard hitter for sure. I scoped mine almost immediatly upon realizing the potential it has, and find it to be an excellent back yard version of my T/C Contenders, which is kinda why I was attracted to it in the first place. I have not been abe to put it down since I got it, winter afternoons are spent upstairs shootin at cans scattered around the back yard in the snow, (and the occasional rabbit!) I plan on getting another full house custom 1325 (.25 cal.) one from Mountain Air, I hear those are a sledgehammer !! PS. Once you replace the cheap plastic parts on it, it becomes a serious quality firearm ! |

This is the best airpistol in the history of all the crosman guns I have owned. Using 11.5 grain pellets that gives me 9.2 ft lbs of power I sent a squirrel into a quadruple backflip with a head shot at 30 yards. Granted it was still sitting up straight eating a sunflower seed. I knocked off 5 in 2 hours, and am enjoying my wild birds for the first time in a long time. Now with this heavy pellet I sacrificed velocity but it slams into anything you hit it with.I would have suspected 500f.p.s.but with a chronograph it will move at 608 f.p.s. with a 7.9 grain pellet. Enjoy this wonderful airpistol. |

The clear point about this gun that every one seems to overlook is that it is variable power. That is to say when you want 350 fps (feet per second) for indoor shooting give the pump three whacks and blam, or you want 600 fps 10 whacks on the pumper and your off to the races. You don't need to buy co2 for it all you need is it and some pellets and you're set for a day of what ever you want. I have owned just about every version of this gun from the 1377, 1322, 1389, 2289, and they are all around the best airgun you can buy. With a little love and care one of these will can be passed to your children as many of mine have been. If It's not fast enough for fellow you speed freaks, you can always do some mods to it. My fastest 1377 shoots around 835 fps or around 14 fpe (foot pounds of energy).
So in closing, you cant go wrong with this gun.

Got mine at a lone line store, $40.00.
The only problem is the trigger, so I took her apart and polished the sher, compressed the spring that took some load
off the pull, For now it just a good plinker, I don't hunt any more, ( If I don't eat it I'm not going to kill it).

Extremely accurate and VERY good value for the money. You can also do a ton of mods to fit your style and it truly makes every 1377c unique.
The only thing I dont like is those crappy plastic grips but you can buy some really nice ones later. |

it's not bad out the box, but, it sure can be upgraded. After 500 rds I determined to do that. The steel breech was first, that allowed a red dot, the crosman shoulder stock was next, that added stability. 16" barrel, that added velocity, recrown, that added accuracy, a longer bolt probe also helped. A 2289 forearm eliminated "finger pinch" of course all this adds to the cost of the gun, but if your serious about accuracy & velocity this will do it.
You can spend a little or a lot,or nothing, depends on what you want, and thats the true beauty of both the 1377c & the 2240 co2 |

Had one of these years ago and at the age of 57 I found an online price for $40 and figured what the heck...
Right out of the box I cleaned it up because it was dirty and caked with dirt and what looked like ground cardboard.
I've had a problem with rabbits and after tightening the rear site down and centering it as best as possible I gave it a whirl and dispatched two rabbits in a span of 15 min right out the dinning room window. 5 pumps was more then enough to stop both those critters. I'm going to add the standard Red Dot scope and we're good to go. |

I have owned mine since College in 1982, I bought because it was the most powerful pump gun I could find. I have used it for plinking, killing pests and target practice.
I recently came across it and though the pump stock will fall on it's own, it still builds considerable pressure and will put a bb into a 2x4 at 10 feet.
Kind of cool that a 27 year old pump gun still looks good and works well! It will be my oldest sons gun training, and my first hand me down to him. |

Just got one of these after wanting one for 30 years. At first all my shots were landing inches up and off to the right whatever I did with the sights. Then I realised the breech was not on straight, unscrewed the rear bolt and shoved it over to the left. That improved things but it kept creeping back offcentre, and I haven't a tool to loosen the front breech screw, so I keep moving it back and it's starting to obey me now! Then I did the "compress trigger spring" trick for a "hair trigger". Now I'm having to throw away targets after 10 shots cos the bull's oblitterated (or draw a new bull with a marker pen. Nice! (But want a steel breech kit and some nice sights). |

I like this air pistol because it is very acurate and very powerful the only one thing that i do not like is there is no where to mount a scope so you have to buy the crosman 459mt scope mounts for this pistol or buy a steel breech. Over all i love this gun it a blast to shoot and acurate |

Well, the 1377C project is becoming a boat, metaphorically speaking. With AGS not taking orders until springtime and me itching to throw good $ after bad - I took the plunge for the RJ Machine Long Steel Breech & Bolt Kit. (Not impressive - I don't like the way the bolt locks up - IMO, it does NOT seal far enough INTO the chamber. Nor is the lock up pronounced. If I invert the gun, the bolt will flop the length of the locking channel. I do NOT know if air is escaping past the o-ring. The o-ring seat COULD have been left a scoatch thicker to provide a better seal and a more positive feeling of accomplishment when closing the bolt.) I added the NcStar 30MM Red Dot Scope. Why? I ask myself the same question... probably because I never shot with one before. Feh - I even buffed all of the sharp edges off on my trigger and cut that top tab back some to give me finger more room. From a piece of 1x4 poplar, I cut a set of grips that better fill my hands (not finished yet). I'm seriously considering filling up the lower void in the frame with DEVCON STEEL EPOXY and reshaping the entire frame/grip to match the older Mk-II .... Regardless, the gun is still top heavy, more so now with the Red Dot. However, I'll toss up 1 more thumb for the extra $100.00 I sunk into it. It shoots where I point the dot. And that's a good thing. STOCK SIGHT TIP: What I did with the rear sights before the conversion to the RDS was to eliminate the sliding sight piece of metal entirely. That improved grouping for me - - - |

First one I got would not group. Took it back and got another . Had to file rear sight slot so I could get rear sight lower. now it groups fine at 30-35 feet with 6 pumps.
Just find out what pellets it likes to eat. Would like to see a better rear sight. But so far it's a hoot to shoot.
Have to see how it turns out as a squirrel getter .
REMEMBER= 1.All guns are always loaded/2.never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy or pay for/3 keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target/4.Know your target and what is beyond .
If it has a trigger on it it has to be fun .

Bought a 1377c today at Acadamey Sports. Got it home and discovered the barrel crown was CT'sunk way off center. Took it back and got another, same thing. From reading earlier posts to this blog it seems to be an issue. Will take the barrel to work tomorrow and clean up its business end. My first 1377 (bought new in 1977) was built different, using more parts in regards to the hammer assembly, air valve, and breech. I was hoping this two pistols would be the same. Looks like most of the change was to reduce production costs and possibly improve safety??? Never the less, for $50 things could be worse. Since I bought the 1377 to learn how to do air gun mod's and upgrades, I can't go wrong with the choice. |

I have mixed feelings about the 'new' 1377 I just bought. Definately a bargain at the price $47.00 + S&H. Perhaps I just got an RMA dog. Sloppy assembly - finger prints & oil under the grips --- Inaccurate... The crown looked like it was done by a cock-eyed herniated monkey hanging from a 10 cent baloon. Totally elipical and off center. Money spent - now to fix it: I cleand up the crown by hand with a RCBS case reamer. That brought the impacts closer together and acceptable for now. Being comfortable with my trusty MKII, No balance, very nose heavy, mut be the long barrel 7 air res. Was this done on purpose by Crosman with future weighty upgrades like steel breech, scopes, etc. in mind? I found the 1377 kinda hangs out there in the wind. And I have huge hands. So I opted to make a grip for the left side first out of a piece of 1x4 poplar I had. Nothing fancy, just something to hang on to. Easily cut on a home band saw, routed with a dremel tool in a stand and neccessay holes drilled, it took maybe under two hours of putzin around. This stabilized the gun a heap. And, as an added bonus - I found out that I can shoot lefty much better with the 1377 than I can righty. Me thinks I'm gonna go ahead and slowly upgrade this wonder gun (wonder what I can buy for it next). This web site looks to have a plethora (a whole buncha) things for me to spend my SS checks on other than bills, meds & food. Hmmmmm.... A nice curved brass trigger, brass safety bar, sear & spring and then a new breech sounds about right to start. Thanks for the space to state my opinion and the goodies you have available. My $ will soon be yours. |

Another $49 gun that is better than most at twice the price.
Totally acceptable out of the box with as much after market support as an HD motorcycle. If you want you can spend a lot of money customizing this gun to your taste or you can leave it alone and being a pump you will spend no more future money than it cost for pellets.
BTW this gun is not fussy about pellet type.
You really can't go wrong. |

Were talking about a $50 pistol that with very little practice and set up will give accurate and powerful shooting, consistently.
If you're into tinkering they are well supported all over the web and here. This is for a reason.
Anything from wood grips to barrels, breaches shoulder stocks, pistons and trigger mods it's out there.
I'm having a ball with my near stock pistol with leapers sight finding accuracy at an unfair advantage. Although the temptation to mod it is strong. |

good points:
low cost
accurate
robust
lots of aftermarket parts available
Bad points:
Bad sights
no scope rail
too many plastic parts
heavy trigger
very difficult to accuratly out of the box
The pistol as it comes out of the box has a very heavy trigger and the sights is bad. I could not get a better group than 1 inch at 10m. The trigger was way heavy. Nor would it accept a scope. You have to order the scope mounts for another $10, better still is to spend $30 on the steel breech.
The velocity was nowhere close to 600ft/s with 8.4 gr pellet at 10 pumps.
I had to do a trigger job and put the steel breech on to get it to shoot better and after the jobs was done, I was getting 1 holers.
The power can also be incresed by some work too.
If you are willing to do some work on the gun (took me less than 3hr), go for it, but I wouldn't recommend it to an average person. |
